The Rockpit, A Forum, Reformatted

Turning an online rock-music forum into a proper magazine, print and web, as an editorial design exercise.

Editorial

The brief asked for an editorial design built from online content. I picked a rock-music forum with lively, opinionated threads and reformatted them as a real magazine: cover, masthead, features and pull-quotes. Treating fan writing with the weight of print was the point; the content deserved the typographic hierarchy that forums rarely give it.

Alongside the print version I designed a companion website mock, the same editorial voice translated to a desktop grid, so the forum's scroll-based reading habit has somewhere to go online.
